Lady 'Stangs Stun MSUB, 75-65

The top seed in the upcoming tournament, the Montana State-Billings University Lady Yellowjackets (18-7, 9-3), fell to WNMU (5-20, 3-9) 75-65 in Heartland Conference action in Silver City, NM. The Lady Mustangs have been eliminated from any post season hopes, but notched their first home victory this season with the win.

The game was slow-paced with a lot of whistles, WNMU with 17 fouls to MSUB's 26.

MSUB's Michelle Lieber led all scorers with 24 points, and 15 rebounds. MSUB's Alira Carpenter scored 15 points, 1 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal. Carpenter scored the Lady Yellowjackets first seven points in the second half.

Senior Sarah Bennetts paced the Lady 'Stangs with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. She was followed closely by Tannesia "T" Manley with 18. Other Mustangs in double digits were Nicole Ruegsegger and Crystal Smith with 10 a piece. Antonia Caffey's extra hustle resulted in 5 crucial rebounds and 9 points.

Both teams will face off again tomorrow at 5:30 P.M. in the Brancheaux P.E. Complex.
